Windows XP and Hyperterminal

I have an industrial scale hooked up through the serial
port. i have the scale interface to send the weight and
then the word END. For some reason when i send the data to
hyperterminal all i get is the weight reading and it won't
give me END. I was wondering if there was a setting in XP
or hyperterminal that is not allowing me to send this. Any
help is greatly appreciated.
