I am getting the message "<file path and name> is not
accessable. Access Denied." on a large number of my
files that were backed up to another drive and functioning
normally before I reloaded windows XP.
They were all on a seperate physical drive from the OS,
and I did not have the personal files encryption system
enabled. Some of the other folders and files in the same
tree are still accessable, while roughly 3/4 of them are
affected.

Any assistance or input would be appreciated.

Hi Josh,

As they were not encrypted, you merely need to take ownership, see:

Following this pointer, I checked for the Security
options, but I'm not finding any such link in the right-
click menu properties. I'm running XP pro SP1.

Never mind.. I figured it out, after reading another
troubleshooting tip elsewhere in the list. After logging
in as Administrator in safe-mode, I found the Securty tab,
and was able to successfully force a change in ownership
on the files.

Thanks all!

Hi Josh,

Control Panel/folder options/view tab, uncheck the line to "use simple =
file sharing", this will allow the security tab to show.
