View Full Version : XP Home - Windows Update problems

I'm running an authorized copy of Windows XP Home v2002 SP1,
Hebrew-enabled (if that's still an option).
When I click on "Help and Support" to run Windows UPdate (while online)
I get the message:
"You must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system in order to
use Windows Update."
The system seems to be blind to the OS it's running.
The problem persists even when the Installation CD-ROM is in the drive.
OS installed to C:\Windows.
Running on Intel Pentium 4 at 1.70 GHz, 224 MB RAM, plenty of disk space.
Thanks for any ideas.

Hi John,
That often happens when the user has both the native firewall running =
and a third party one. Try disabling them. There is also an issue with =
Norton Internet Security, you will find the fix here:
