I tried to install Systemworks 2003 and it won't let me. It says to run
Sysclean. I do and it says I'm good to go. Then message keeps looping and
I cannot install. I tried to rid the OS Registry of all Norton Utilities
Registry values, But I still cannot install Norton.

Personal opinion:
The installer just did you a favor--the only thing on systemworks worth
installing is NAV.

I have a similar problem on a clean instll XP. It tells me that LiveUpdate
will not install. I download the "fix" from the symantec website...the
update tells me the I dont have long filenames! installed!!!

Numerous emails to Symantec go unanswered.

They will not get any more of my money...

I've had a very hard time with 2003, let alone 2001. It clashed with
Roxio Easy CD Creator 6, it clashes with boot.ini if you include /sos,
it wouldn't allow auto start of NAV until after I spent several hours
then magically it was OK.

WinDoctor doesn't work, it causes CHDSK to run.

Although it's on the disk, but not in the book, File Compare does not
work with XP and that was one of it's best features.

And I just reinstalled NSW after some problems and now it would not
start Auto Protect. Went into msconfig/services and added a check to it
and it now works!

Symantec purchased GoBack from Roxio and it's included in Pro, but then
Ghost cannot be run. GoBack does a nice job and perhaps it is
preferable.

So we end up with antivirus which is great. Also have WinDoctor which I
enjoy for cleaning up the reg. Also have SpeedDisk which allows several
preferences which windows' defrag does not, and supposedly speedisk does
a better job (?) Also I've always enjoyed CleanSweep which I was using
before purchased by Symantec. In fact, put it in the quick start area
of the taskbar for use when installing a program. When uninstalling a
program, first run add/remove then cleansweep. Suggest you leave it in
safe mode and there you can see other items which you can delete from
windows explorer or rerun cleansweep without safe mode. (Providing you
setup a GoBack first there should be no problem.

To summarize, it ain't what it used to be, but it's still pretty good!

MS!!
