System Failure

I cannot start my computer. It will not even go to safe
mode. the error message reads
windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt
/windows/system32/config/system
you can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows
setup using the original CD rom

But it does not read the cd rom.
The only file it reads is a norton antivirus floppy but at
the end of the run it goes to the a:/ and then won't do
anything

Change your settings in the bios to start from CD.
The do the "repair stuff" from the operating system CD.
