View Full Version : Using Task Scheduler to run Norton AntiVirus LiveUpdate

I tried posting this here on Friday but it didn't go out for some
reason; I've also posted this on
symantec.support.winnt.nortonantivirus.liveupdate which I've come to
believe is like talking to a wall (or a two year old), so maybe someone
here can help me figure out what to do . . . .

I have LiveUpdate set up to run as a scheduled task under WinXP Home
Edition's task scheduler, but it has NEVER run because, as the status
indicates, "no user account password was entered".

The user LiveUpdate is configured to "run as" has no password;
furthermore, the same user is specified (again, with no password) as the
user to run the scans as, and that works every time. Is the "real"
problem that I'm not always logged on to the internet at the time and,
if so, can't LiveUpdate dial in automagically when it is scheduled to
run? I don't think this is it as it also fails when I am logged into
the internet at the specified time.

ANY help to get this going would be greatly appreciated, so TIA,
