Hi,

I have a single phone line which has two numbers. The first is our normal
phone number and the second is our Fax number. It makes a different sound
than the first number, this way my old fax was able to discriminate and only
answer when the fax number was dialled. In Australia this feature is called
"Distinctive Ring". Can anyone tell me if "Fax Console" can be configured to
only answer distinctive ring?
Any registry setting?

Thanks, Hans

Q272943 applies also to XP.

Windows 2000 Fax does not support the distinctive ring feature. Because of this,
Windows 2000 Fax cannot distinguish calls for distinct numbers if the phone line
is enabled with distinctive ring.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Windows 2000 implementation of UNIMODEM in TAPI
does not support the distinctive ring feature.
