I recently found out that in order to use remote
assistance with XP. I had to have Windows messenger
ver.4.7. Using MSN Messenger doesn't allow me
to use remote assistance it tells me I get an error that
i don't have messenger installed. WHY?!?!?!....thanks

Greetings Zach,
You can initiate Remote Assistance using MSN Messenger 5, but Windows Messenger must be
installed. This is because when Windows XP was released, a number of these functions were
built around Windows Messenger. Now that there are two Messenger clients that you can
install on Windows XP, in order for these functions to still work properly, Windows Messenger
must be there.
