Hi,
Im using ver 5 of win xp messenger. when trying to use my webcam all it says
is its connecting but it wont do anything else. I have however tried using
the logitec webcam plugin and that works fine but the standard doesnt work.
Any one know why?

Greetings Brendon,
Are you are your contact using a router? If so, the built-in "Start Camera" voice/video
conversation support requires that a NAT (router) support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) or
have some type of built-in support for Messenger voice/video support (The Logitech addition
does not require this to work). A number of router manufacturers have firmware updates for
their popular routers to support UPnP, check the router manufacturers website to check.
As well, if you and your contact are using a third-party firewall (like ZoneAlarm, Sygate,
Norton Internet Security/Firewall, etc.), make sure that Messenger is set to 'Permit All',
'Allow All', or is in the 'Medium' setting. Finally, the built-in video support is only
available in Windows XP, so both you and your contact will need to be running Windows XP in
order for it to work successfully.
