View Full Version : Crashing Messenger remotely

Mike Barnard

Hi . . .

I've set myself up to have messages rerouted to my mobile
device. I can get my online contacts from Messenger just
fine from the Mobile device. I'm using Messenger 4.7.

When I try to contact people that are using Messenger, I
crash their Messenger session. This happens on XP Home
and XP Pro.

Greetings Mike,

I don't have a solution for you, but this problem has been reported a lot lately, which
cellular provider are you using?

Hi Jonathan . . .

Ugh. It's not just me. Pity.

I'm using Bell Mobility in Vancouver, BC.

Hi Mike,

No, unfortunately -- the others were on Verizon, so it's not just limited to one provider.

I'll look into it.

New info: It doesn't crash MSN Messenger on Win2K.
However, MSN Messenger messages don't reach the phone
(limited test).

Hi Mike,

I don't have any info for you yet, thanks for the test result however. I think something
must've changed at MSN Mobile recently.

Hi Jonathan . . .

No worries. I'm getting my regular chat partners to
install MSN Messenger 5.0, which I've now proved works
for mobile messages sent and received in NT and XP
environments.

I've received messages on my mobile from both MSN and
Windows Messenger users, so that's working.

Of course, I have no way of identifying which the chattee
is using, so I may still be blowing people up
inadvertently. <sigh>

Interesting feature though. <grin>
