View Full Version : Forgetful Folders
B
December 26th 03, 10:35 PM
In Windows Explorer, when I set the view a certain way, the next time I go
to that folder it has changed. I set the advanced settings in the folder
options to remember each folders settings, but it forgets...
Any ideas?
Also, this may be related, when I insert a CD The prompt window pops up
asking me what to do. The "Always do selected action" box is checked, but it
still always pops up.
Thanks for your help.

View settings have a 400 folder limit. There is a reg hack to extend that on
Kelly's site.

Hi B,
WindowsXP will remember the settings of up to 400 folders, after that it =
starts forgetting some. See this from MVP Kelly for a way to increase =
this number:

Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000

Thanks Rick & Mark (I'm not the OP) . I just went and downloaded the
file from Kelly's, also double clicked on it, box came up asking if I
wanted to add to registry, I clicked yes. Is there anything further I
need to do?, or was it that simple? (If that simple, WwOoOHhhOOoo) and
thanks to Kelly also.
