Bill,

What kind of 'old' cds are you referring to?

A CD that you purchase (software, music, etc) has data that is permanently
written and cannot be changed, so the files are therefore 'read only'.

Date: 1961
1. a usually small computer memory that contains special-
purpose information (as a program) which cannot be
altered
