Floppy drive

I recently had to install a new hardrive. I had to use
the quick-restore cd's to reinstall my windows XP. Since
then, my floppy drive will only read floppies that it
formats. It won't read floppies that have been formatted
by other computers or floppies that contain any
information. (If the information was put on the floppy
from my computer and formated from my computer it works
fine) Is there a way to fix this? I restored the system
bios settings, deleted the floppy drive and its
controller and reinstalled, I also checked that the cable
to the drive and motherboard was securly fastened. Any
ideas? Thanks...
