I would like all opened folders to display the directory tree in the left
column by default. Currently when I open a folder the left column displays a
list of "common tasks" instead of the directory tree seen when using Windows
Explorer. I can display the tree by clicking the "Folders" toolbar button,
but I would prefer to display the explorer-style tree for all windows by
default. Is there a way?
Thanks,
Kerry

You can modify settings in registry manually. The key is:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\SHELL\OPEN\COMMAND
add "Explorer.exe" to default key.
Or you can try our software MagicTweak to tweak it.
Offers tweaking utilities designed to optimize and speed up Microsoft
Windows XP/2000/ME/98.

Skyhf,
Thanks for the tip on how to display the directory tree by default in all
new opened windows. However, I was was unable to to perform the registry
changes you suggested because I could not find the registry key specified in
your message. In the registry editor, I drilled down to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell
but I did not find the
OPEN\COMMAND
key. Under the "SHELL" key, I did locate "FIND" and "MANAGE" keys, but no
"OPEN" keys. Was I supposed to create a new key to match the key you
specified?
Thanks,
Kerry
