Sounds like he installed windows on the first partition
available on the drive and left the rest as
unrecognizable by windows xp. If he doesn't have any
important data on it, I suggest he reinstall windows,
delete every partition (ignore the warning) and do a full
format of the disk this time, which will take a while but
is worth it.
