Can someone tell me what 'Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)' is?

I was wondering because i have been told it is a parasite
of some kind, but I'd like to be sure before I go
removing the program from my computer...

When in doubt about spyware, viruses, etc. Run your virus scanner, and
try Spyboy Search & Destroy. Should track down any bugs on your system.
If they don't track it down and you're still concerned, search for that
particular patch on MS's site. If it's legit, they'll have information
on what it is.

SP2 is Service Pack 2. DO NOT DELETE. Who told you it was a parasite?
