i have set up a VPN server with my XP pro machine so i can
access my home network as to sync files remotely (via
briefcase). i am not the system admin at my home network
(i live in a fraternity house), however, he assured me i
will be able to network into it from a remote location.
i keep getting the error: "Login Failure due to: Remote
host not responding"
at the host and remote location, we are behind a router
(both not firewalled). i am using nortel VPN client to do
so.
i used this page to set up my VPN server
(http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/xp_vpn_server.htm
).
I have several questions if you please:
1.) can i use nortel to access an XP set-up VPN (i have
accessed other VPNs with it)?
2.) did i set up the sever properly (the only difference
with this page was how i had the users get their IP
address. the page demonstrates to specify IP addresses. I,
however, assigned them automatically)?
i really appreciate any feedback you can provide.
thanks,
