windows messenger xp upgrade

I get the message there is an upgrade for windows
messenger... when I click to start download, I have to
hit cancel as it does nothing. It says there is a problem
with the download file, would you like to go to site. I
go to site to download from there and it starts and then
just stops.. never totally gets me to the message that
says save this to a file or install at present
location... I see there is no way to uninstall 4.7,
cause I thought I might just need to reinstall it...
Because it came with my puter . the version I am
running is 4.7 2005.... If I don't need the new
upgrade let me know and I will wait till newer version..
Getting frustrated here.. thanks

The "new version" is 4.7.2009, it's not a required upgrade at all, nor do you really need it.
