Ok, this is absolute MURDER!
I installed DirectX 9.0a (straight from Windows Update
this morning). Then I rebooted. Then I installed the
newest Windows Messenger for Windows XP v4.7 (sorry I
don't know the build number - it's whatever version is
downloadable Right Now though)
You can see the delay when Messenger first starts. The
expanding "radar/rain drop" looking graphics that flash
while Messenger is signing in appear 1/2 way, then pause,
then expand to their full size, then pause, etc.
When I double click a contact, the Conversation Window
opens. There is a 2-3 second delay before my text appears
though. Again, I have scads of RAM, free disk space, etc.
I realize this just might be a lost cause, but does anyone
have ANY ideas what causes this delay? ALL of my other
programs run without delay. Messenger on the other hand,
tells me to go fish. :-)
