Individuals using MSN Messenger can communicate to another party who is
using Windows Messenger, they both use the .NET messaging service and can
communicate with each other.

Greetings Gody,

Both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger use the same instant messaging network (.NET
Messenger), accounts are the same, and both clients can connect together. However, some
issues you should be aware of, only Windows XP clients (both MSN Messenger 5 and Windows
Messenger) can do built-in Messenger video. MSN Messenger running on previous versions of
Windows can only do voice or use a video addition (like this one from Logitech:
http://messenger.msn.com/support/webcam.asp).

The differences between the two clients continue to change (different features etc.),
especially in the upcoming versions. However, both will always be able to communicate to one
another using the public network.
