Camcorder play back & record

I have a Sony digital camcorder. How do I get the tape
to play & then burn to a DVD on the computer.

I'm not sure how to hook up & play

to capture the video off your camera you either need a video capture card or
usb device (I use dazzle 80 usb) or have a camera which supports direct usb
connection (or firewire) with the corresponding software loaded from the
camera vendor.
Then the software with the capture card or windows moviemaker will allow you
to save the movie to disk and edit it. I use MGI videowave (came with the
hardware) once you've got it on disk roxio creative 5 will allow you to burn
a standard CD to a VCD which you can play on most DVD players.
