"The Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service hung on
starting." Error ID #7022
I've been getting this in the Event Viewer ever since I
installed Windows XP patch #811493.
Other symptoms of problems include:
- I installed this patch about 3 times and it still shows
as not having been installed on my system in the Windows
Update feature.
- Every time I boot up, it hangs for at least a minute or
two before it finally finishes the bootup process. (It
seems to get stuck in loading ZoneAlarm and my Internet
connection.)
- When I shut down, more often than not it hangs and
doesn't recover. The icons on the desktop go away, but
the taskbar at the bottom stays. It is also this taskbar
that seems to "hang" at startup (I get the hourglass when
I mouse over it until it frees up). If I have to manually
shut down the 'puter, I must boot back up, then shut down
properly (it usually does this on second try), then
restart it again. If I don't, the programs get upset if I
try to run them after a bad shutdown.
Is this a problem because of ZoneAlarm?? With all the
blocked intrusions it reports I'm terrified to shut it
down, and I'm on cable access so I don't dare go without
it. Is anyone else having problems since installing this
patch?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is driving me
nuts.
Thanks,
JoJo
