>Maria,
I am not an expect, but I would recomend at least these
three things to do [if you can]:
1. Go to the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control
Panel (you may have a view which shows "Settings" instead
of "Control Panel"). Look down the list for Hotfix Q811493
(SP2). If you have it installed, remove it. The point: it
may be the old version which caused many people, including
me, many problems. The fixed version under exactly the
same number is available now from the Windows Update Site
so you can go there and get the fixed version immediately
if you wish.
2. Start/Run/type "sfc /scannow" in the box (without
quotation marks), and click OK. You can enter the same
Command Line at: Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command
Prompt, except you then press the keyboard Enter key. If
you want to know what this Command will do: type "sfc /?"
in either place and you will get some brief info. sfc
stands for System File Check by the way. BE VERY SURE that
a space follows sfc when you type it.
3. Go to www.symantec.com for a free virus scan and much
info on bugs/viruses. McAfee probably offers the same.
Symantec, by the way, produces the Norton Anti-Virus
Programs.
4. When you run the sfc check, have your Windows CD ready
in case you need it to replace/repair a file.
Hope this helps,
