View Full Version : Hide Administrator Account Folders from other Administrators

A friend of mine is configuring a laptop running WinXP SP1. He would like
to create a backup account in case anything should go wrong. However, he
would like to configure the system so that when he is logged in as the
primary user none of the backup folders will appear in windows explorer.
In the security settings can the my documents folder for the backup account
be hidden completely (not just dimmed) when the primary user who has
administrative priviledges is logged in. I think the security settings may
acheive this goal if the primary user is denied all permissions on the
folder or will the adminstrative group override these settings?
Any suggestions are welcome.
TIA,
Pete

With the built in security settings of XP, you cannot do what you wish.
Other Administrators will not have access to private folders, but they will
be able to see that they exist. And any Administrator has the privileges to
"take ownership" of any file/folder on the system to see what's in them.

Peter;
The other user needs to be something less than Administrator.
Because ANY Administrator can do and undo anything any Administrator
can do.

No ****, Sherlock? Got any great ideas on how he can achieve what he wants

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You dumb****s take the cake in the stupidity stakes. If
you got off your fat ****ing arses and let some oxygen get to your brain, it
would take thirty seconds to explain to your poor victim just how he goes
about achievening what he wants. But no, in your pinhead ****wittery, you
cannot see past the ****ing noses on your gormless faces. MVP = Most
Valueless Prostitute.
