Hello all-

Has anyone encountered Microsoft Access error 2287 (" ... can't open the
mail session ..." ) after moving a working Access database to a machine with
Windows XP? This issue has appeared a few times without resolution on the
Access groups, so if anyone here has suggestions, they'd be very welcome.

The situation is that an Access form has code that automatically sends
e-mail to recipients whose addresses are stored in the database, using the
SendObject method. This has been working fine on a machine running Windows
98, but when the database is moved to a new Windows XP machine, the error
occurs.

The only Knowledge Base article I have found that comes close to addressing
this is Q283173, which describes a fix when that error is produced by
installing Access 97 on top of Access 2000, but that is not the case here:
A2K has never been installed on the machine. Further, the proposed fix,
removing the registry key

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Common\MapiDLL

cannot apply, since that key is not present in the first place, and no
similar keys seem to exist at other registry nodes.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received; thanks!

Dave
