spam message popups

Same here. The instant message pop ups interrupt my
offline activities like watching movies or word
processing.

I've tried everything and Microsoft has been no help at
all. Problem is this annoying instant message system is
built in and can't be removed. This feature of XP is
awful, and I don't think the R&D people at Microsoft had
any idea about how open this system is to constant abuse.

If you had truely tried everything (including a simple search of this
newsgroup, or even using Google), then you would know how easy this is to
prevent.

Running the network setup wizard (answering the prompts correctly) would
have prevented this as well.
