I have both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger. Everytime
when I'm logged on to the Internet, Windows Messenger
automatically signs me in even though I have the "sign in
automatically" box unchecked. Sometimes I do not even
notice that I'm already signed in to Windows Messenger
until when I sign in to MSN Messenger, they inform me that
I was signed out of the other program. This gets a little
frustrating. What can I do about it? Should I just
uninstall Windows Messenger altogether?

Greetings,

Do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton added a new "instant messaging scanning"
feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict with Messenger and cause this behavior.
To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the System
Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then
Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.
