JAVA Applications

I cant open any JAVA Applets and when I open up Visual
Route the message says, " JAVA VM need to run 'vr'was
either not found in your PATH or is not installed in your
system. Please update your path or install one of the
following: MS Java VM, build 3167 or later." What is
this? How do I solve this problem. Thanx
