Using Windows Messenger 4.7 with new computer. Running
XP Home Edition and have Bell South DSL. Can communicate
via text only. Have bought new headset and webcam. All
diagnostics check-out that they are functioning
properly. However, I cannot communicate via audio or
video. Contacted Bell South and they tell me there
software is not the problem. I removed Zone Alarm
firewall; disabled the XP firewall; have activated
various ports, etc...would sure appreciate some help. My
other computer, in the same room, with Windows 98
installed can transmit via audio with using Bell South's
dial-up modem connection. I haven't installed the webcam
there because I want to use it on the faster DSL
connection. Thanks..Bob

I will bet money that the DSL modem Bell South supplied is a NAT modem.
Ask them!!

Yeah, it is probably a router. That is what bellsouth is giving out now. I have the Westel 2100 and turned all that stuff off and
run it in bridge mode. Works good, messenger audio and video work. The setup for this modem really is crippled by the bellsouth
software. This modem has a *lot* of features but just about all of them are removed by the bellsouth software that comes installed
in it.
