Hello all,
Hope this group includes Remote desktop as well as Remote
assistance.
I have a problem with a number of XP Professional
machines (all built using the same image) where you
cannot remote desktop to them from any other system.
The XP machines are configured for RD and all the rights
are set, but when you attempt to connect through the RD
client from another machine, the blue background appears
for a moment and looks like it is about to connect, but
then the screen just disappears without any type of error
message.
Has anyone else seen this?
Thx,
Henry

Dear Henry,
According to my research, remote desktop issue could be caused by many
reasons. It's hard for us to say what the root cause is for the time being.
Regarding this issue, I have the following suggestions:
1. First of all, please check if the steps are correct:
How to Use the Remote Desktop Feature of Windows XP Professional WGID:488
ID: 315328.KB.EN-US
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;315328
2. And then, please check if the 3389 port is open on the Windows XP:
187628 Using Telnet to Test Port 3389 Functionality
<http://support.microsoft.com/?id=187628>
3. Lastly, please check if there any anti-virus or firewall software
installed on the computer. If so, temporarily stop/uninstall them and then
test this issue again. At the same time, please check the Event log to see
if there is any related information.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing
from you.
Sincerely,
