OE & MS Outlook problems

My apologies if I am in the wrong NG, but I am a new user with Win. XP.

Anyway, if I should go elsewhere, just say so.

Regardless, my problem is this:

When I click on the Outlook Express icon to connect to internet, the
password in the box is wrong, so I have to change it each time I want to
connect. I have tried everything I can find to permanently change my
password to the correct one, but it always comes up as the one I have been
tryin' to delete? I'm lost.

Additionally, I tried to set up my e-mail in MS Outlook and just use OE as
my newsreader, but every time I click "send/receive" I get a message that
reads: "The operation failed. An object could not be found."

I could certainly use some help.

Try using the password thqat's there. WinXP intentionally shows the wrong
length to make the password harder to guess.

Aside from the fact that using the existin' PW doewn't work, and that I have
no idea what it is to begin with, why would I want to do that, id I was
askin' how to get rid ot the incorrect PW in the first place?

I'd like to know how to correct this problem, not how to jury rig it, just
so that it will work.

Type the correct password. Windows should remember it, but it will still
not show the correct length.

My most sincere apologies Frank! I must have miss read your post, and
conjured up somethin' entirely fictitious. I tried what you said to
do--this time and it worked? I thought I had tried this before, but
apparently I was mistaken or I am goin' crazy.

Gettin' used to XP compared to Win98 is somewhat tryin'.

How do you know its wrong? Passwords are not normally displayed, you
just get *'s and its length is usually hidden by using lots of *'s.

I would re-check your settings again. Particually the location of the
PST (Personal Folder) file that stores your mail. Maybe creating a new
one will help.
