View Full Version : Netscape not starting

I have a Windows xp system that has been running Netscape 4.7 without
problem for quite a while. Suddenly I am not able to open Netscape.
The program attempts to load, the introductory screen appears, and then
closes down. When I look in the system processes, it shows that
Netscape is active even though I cannot see anything on my screen. I
have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Netscape but nothing has helped
this problem. This began some time after I upgraded Quicktime and
uninstalled some unrelated applications. Internet Explorer works
without any difficulty but I would like to get Netscape 4.7 to start
again. Thanks.

Netscape 4.7 is concidered very old. I would advise you to download netscape
7.02 or opera from Opera.com
if you dont like IE. Another very good browser is called FIREBIRD mozilla.

Good responses by netscape, IE users from both windows and Linux platforms!

If you look here -
http://wp.netscape.com/download/archive.html
You can find upgrades to 4.7 that are still in that series. Try download
4.9, for example, and see if that helps. If not, you may need to resort to
something else.
