I hate the XP search function - give me the windows 200
back again. How an I make this happen with XP?

Do you have TweakUI for XP installed? Select Explorer and put a checkmark in
'Use classic search in Explorer'.

Just to add to what Mike said:

Click here to download it: http://tinyurl.com/7zk
(Or copy/paste to your Internet Browser)

Install it.
Find it in your Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI for Windows XP
Run it.
Click on the word Explorer.
On the right side of the window, scroll down to the very last items.
Put check marks next to "Use Classic Search in Explorer" and "Use Classic
Search in Internet Explorer"
Click OK.
