View Full Version : Scanner software and Windows XP

Within the last few weeks suddenly my HP4200c scanner has
stopped recognizing the software. This is something that
came out the blue, prior to that my scanner was working
fine. I've unpluged, uninstalled, reinstalled and
replugged the scanner. While reinstalling the software I
get the message that the scanner software has not passed
Windows logo testing to vertify its compatability with
Windows XP. Should the message be ignored or what???

Ignore the warning. However, you might go back to ground zero and
remove the scanner from scanners and cameras control panel, and remove
the TWAIN from add/remove programs - you need the scanner connected to
do this. Then shut down, disconnect the scanner, reboot, install the
drivers and software again, then connect the scanner. The original
problem might have been a failed install, and this will ensure that the
drivers are installed properly.

Carolyn;
You are normally OK to ignore that message.
It just means the driver was not submitted to Microsoft for testing
and approval.
Rarely are those drivers a problem.
Often the alternative is to buy new hardware.
