ok, I like millions, want to disable the messenger service pop-up spam.
....went to www.kellys-korner-xp.com (great website Kelly) tweaks and tips,
and by mistake, used "Disable/Remove Messenger" (line 44)...
....then I realized what I wanted was (line 95) "Disable Messenger Service
(Pop-up Spam)
....how do I re-enable Messenger? Should I enable it? I do like to use
Instant messaging, and would like to use my computer remotely...please
advise.

To renable your Messenger just go to your Start menu, and then go to Run.
Then type in gpedit.msc
This will bring up Group Policy Options up,
Click down to
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Messenger
Then Double click the "Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run"
and then click on Disable
Then check the User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows
Messenger and do the same thing and make sure it's on Disable .
Your Windows Messenger should be able to be run again now.

Thanks Gary:
....I followed your instructions below to re-enable the windows messenger.
(found in Windows components folder).
....Just curious, I read somewhere that disabling "Messenger Service" could
affect message alerts from my antivirus program...is this true?...is there
anyway around this? Should I be concerned about this?
