How can I have explorer (or any other app search screen)
automatically sort files by type?

In Windows Explorer, right click on the categories list bar
(name, size, date , etc...) and select the information to
display. Then you click on the TYPE (file) list to sort by
that, click it again and it will change. Name and date will
do the same, either by date up/down or alpha .
Very easy.
