View Full Version : Can Listen But Can't Talk in Voice Conversation

Richard, I'm having the same kind of problem, but in
reverse. People I video/voice conference with can see
and hear me, and I can see them, but I can't hear them
even though both parties have no errors on .NET status
screens or through the "Audio tuning wizard." I have had
this problem since upgrading to MSN Messenger 5.0. I
went back to Windows Messenger 4.7, but it didn't fix the
problem.
I have a Dell factory installed "3Com 3C920 Integrated
Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible)" network
card with a cable modem connection. Any solution you
have for Robin might work for me as well.
As a side note, I always have to initiate the video or
voice connection or else it never completes the
connection. In video conferences, their picture will pop
up on my computer, but my picture never shows up on
theirs before the connection process fails.

it sounds like the problem is at the other end if you can initiate the call
and it works
I have the same problem with one of my friends if I initiate the call
every thing works if he initiates I can see and hear him he cannot see or
hear me we are both behind linksys routers if he calls me connected directly
to cable modem no router every thing works
if I call him connected directly to cable modem and he is behind the router
the same problem I can see and hear him he cannot see or hear me
hope this helps

If both sides upgrade to MSN Messenger 6.0, it will most likely fix the
problem.

Lucky One, I am behind a linksys router on cable modem
while the other party is on Quest DSL directly. Maybe it
is something to do with the router, but I will try the
upgrade to MSN 6.0 as John Holmes suggests.
