I want to remove the read and write on a group of folders
and the sub folders, from I zip file I downloaded the zip
is not read write some files in the sub folders are and
some are not I want all to be read write for now. I
select that option, it removes the check, then I go back
into it and it (the read write) is back

The RO attribute on a directory entry is irrelevant except to a couple of
command line applications. When looking at the properties for a directory,
the RO attribute that's displayed is actually meaningless. What's critical
is the RO attribute on the individual files and for that, you have to check
the properties for each individual file. Since you're clear RO on all
objects in the directory (and presumably the sub directories as well), then
you're fine.
