opening multiple Word files

I cannot keep open more than one Word file when I
minimise them to the taskbar. I am trying to copy
extracts from one Word file to a selection of other Word
files. I am using Word 97 on Windows XP.
Any help would be gratefully received.

In Word 97, you access other open documents by going to the menu item called
Windows. When you click on that item, it shows the other documents.
However, you can only have one document up at a time. You will have to
select the source document, copy you selection, then select the target
document and paste.
