An icon for a Memory Blaster program
(www.totalvelocity.com) hitchhiked onto my taskbar and it
seems impossible for me to remove it. It is a meter and
shows you how much memory you have (in percentage) It is
slowing down my system. I went to their site, and there
is no verbal way of contacting them to ask how to remove
the icon. It isn't identifiable on my Startup files in
order to delete it,(yet it starts up automatically when
the pC is turned on) and when right clicking on the icon,
the only things viewable are "about" and "open" or "more
info" which takes you to the site. Can anyone help me
delete this painlessly? My os is windows XP. Thanks.

Go to your Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs,
If it is listed, just highlight it and click Remove.

There are many places in the registry and other executable files that load
on startup. You can do a regedit search for memory blaster and delete the
entries as well as use the uninstall feature. I'll send you a list of all
the ways a program can get loaded at startup. jim

Im guessing any program that won't let you terminate it and doesn't have
contact info is going to include an un-installer :) Try searching the Task
manager for suspicious processes (this is somewhat advanced, just try not to
end a process that Windows needs). Also check the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
Both of those contain a list of executables to run at system startup. Find
the suspecting executable and delete the entry.
