msn messenger wont download

i had msn mess 5.0 i tryed to upgrade to 6.0 and it tells
me that the 32win aplication is not valid? whats that
mean and how can i fix it? i uninstalled and reinstalled
messenger 5.0 in case of a corupt file and it does the
same thing. and could it be i cant completely delete
messenger because i have msn explorer? because even tho i
deleted all messengers of msn including windows
messenger when i sign into msn explorer all my contacts
are there like it was never deleted and it signs me in?
please help me
