fire wire ieee1394 host adapter

prob. with installing fire wire ieee1394 adapter. in the
found new hardware wizard, get message "cannot install
this hardware. there was a problem installing this
hardware ieee 1394 controller. an error occured during
installation of the device. the data is invalid"
checked the controller in the device manager. it said the
controller was not correctly configered.
can anybody help.
