View Full Version : XP Compatability AVG?

I installed AVG Pro and the strangest thing happened.......
When I click START - PROGRAMS - RT-click any folder - click OPEN
instead of opening the folder, the pointer jumps down to the next folder...
and the next for as long as I continue to click open.
This does not happen with every program I install. It happened with AVG and
with FineCrypt. I really like having the option to open my Program folders
and would appreciate any help in restoring this function.
I know that the problem is NOT related to any other hardware or software
because immediately after using GoBack to the point prior to the AVG (or
FineCrypt) install, everything works normally.
Any ideas?

thi problem you are seeing has nothing to do with avg. I have been using it
years, and I just tried what you said, and it works correctly for me.

For the ones reading technical replies, I would kindly request them to give
me their feedback with another post (in the same thread of course), so I
will know if my advice helped them or not.

I used it for years too.... with win98. It DOES have to do with AVG and XP.
I tried installing 2 versions of AVG. Both caused the problem and simply
uninstalling didnt fix it.
The minute I use GoBack to get AVG out, all is well again.

I, too have been using AVG for quite awhile. I have it running on at least
a dozen computers belonging to friends and it works quite well with XP.
Maybe you should look for another program that may be conflicting with it.

Am more than willing to look. I just dont know how to begin.
Can you give me some advise?
As I said, the problem goes away the minute AVG does.
I very much want to be able to use AVG again.
Thanks.

I have been using it for years on ALL windows platforms from windows 95 up
to windows XP with service pack 1.
I tested that on XP (of course) before replying to your post. This is
logical right?

I would confer with the other person having the same problem, who posted
earlier. See what similarities there are in your systems - hardware and
software. If you find similar programs, for instance, uninstall the
program and see what happens.
