msn messsenger 6.0

I am running msn messenger 4.7 on my XP. Found out there
was another new version for XP being 6.0. I downloaded it
figuring it would replace the old version which it
didn't. I now have both and can't find a way of removing
old version. The other thing is that with 4.7 running
with outlook express, i can see the status of my contacts
in the bottom left corner of outlook express in the
contact list. If ppl are on or off. If 4.7 is out of the
system it should move over to the new one. But i can't
find a way to remove old one.

Greetings William,

MSN Messenger 6 does not replace Windows Messenger 4.7, they are separate products.

MSN Messenger 6 does not integrate with Outlook Express, as Outlook Express was written for
Windows Messenger only. You can stop Outlook Express from loading Windows Messenger however
by closing Outlook Express, then downloading and running this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg

As well, in order to keep all features (Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, Application Sharing),
Windows Messenger must still be installed (so a forced removal isn't a good idea).
