we both have cable connection and the same server

There is a built in firewall in XP, have you disabled that? When you say
the same server, do you really mean the same ISP? I think Attbi.com is a
ISP provider! If so, then just exactly how are you connected from the
cable in. Such as a Modem? Router? HUB? or Direct to the Modem then
straight to the computer. It appears to me that you have some sort of NAT
modem or such or at least something in between, either you or the other
party or both.
