You can allow different users to allow the computer
(System Settings -> User Accounts). Every single account
can be applied a different password. You can also have a
guest-account without any password.
Example: You, James, are using Word and want to continue
writing, when you leave Standby-Mode. In case, Mary wants
to use the computer, she simply puts in her password and
can go on searching the internet, like SHE did before
going into Standby-Mode. If there is for example a guest
logging in (maybe without password) he will not have
Internet or Word open, but as soon as he goes into
Standby, James or Mary can log in with their account
again.
Clearer now?
