I'm not sure what a router is. The Cable company brought
the modem, and it is plugged into the ethernet card in the
computer. I believe my Aunt's computer is set up the same
way. We both have hi-speed internet. (Coax cable to
modem-modem to computer via ethernet)

One other question, are you sure your mic is plugged into the sound card and
you are not using a mic from some other source such as a camera.

I do have two microphones, one in the camera, and one in
the sound card. After testing it, it is tuned to the mic
plugged into the sound card because this is the one that
responds to the sound.

That is the correct way, check to see if your Aunt's is also. Other than
that I do not know.
