Printing issues with XP

[Muffy]

Recently our accounting department got new desktops with
XP (previously running 98). Since this change, printing
(especially 0ver 700 payroll checks) from the XP machine
to the Laserjet 5Si, has become a long tedious process.
The checks print out from 1 to 4 then a long pause (this
seems to only be when printing from our accounting
software, dynamics). We have tried different drivers,
bypassing the server, and praying before each payroll run,
does anyone have any other suggestions? Also, if no ideas,
is it possible to go back from XP to 98 and what are the
implications of doing so. Thanks for any suggestions.

1st you could try the Printing Troubleshooter in XP's Help and Support.

As painfully expensive as Great Plains will make it, you really
need to upgrade to a WinXP-compatible version of Dynamics. Or
continue using a legacy operating system to run a legacy accounting
application.

Sounds like it may be a software problem with xp and your payroll program.
Since you failed to mention how old it is or whether is has been updated to
work with xp I am assuming it has not. Especially. since it running in
Win98. Printer does have compatibility with xp even on a network so does
not seem the problem. I assumed you have searched on the net but there are
some tweaks for HP printers such as:
