View Full Version : Printer Default

Using Win XP Professional and have a choice of using three different
printers. How can I permanently designate one printer as the default printer
all the time? For example, if someone uses another printer (other than the
default printer), when they have finished their print job the system then
goes back to the default printer each time.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

If you go to the printer folder and right click on the printer you want to
set as default, there is a default option, select this and that printer is
then set to default all the time. (has a black tick on the icon)
Each user has to do the same or if on a network each PC has to do the same.

Thanks Neil, but the problem appears to be that when another user selects a
printer (i.e. a color printer) then finishes their print job , the printer
just used then becomes the default printer. This is what I am trying to
avoid.

Are you sure they're not setting their printer as default each time?
If they go to File/Print & just select their one from the drop-down menu, it
should be a one-off & not effect the default setting.

Thanks John and Neil - it appears the problem was caused by a third party
software program, after a trial this day.
