I cannot seem to get this to work on Mess 4.7 or MS Mess 5.0. I have the
latest firmware from Linksys. Have enabled UPnP and Internet Gateway. Voice
and video work inside the router but not outside.
I also run McAfee Internet Security/Firewall/Antivirus but turning this on
and off doesn't work either.
Interestingly enough from other posts, I've gleaned that the Internet
Gateway icon should be appearing in my Network Connections. It did once and
disappeared upon reboot and never have been able to get it their again.
Anyone have a suggestion?

I have found that with lisksys routers is that you must a have universal
plug and play installed as well internet gateway device discovery and
control client, go to control panel, add or remove programs, windows
components, networking services, click on details and install
if they are already installed in control panel go to, administrative tools,
services, and look for universal plug and play device, and see if it started
if it is set to start automatic change to manual right click on it go
properties startup type and from drop down box select manual and do the same
for SSDP Discovery service you may have to reboot after reboot you should
see your router in my network places and in view network connections you
will see internet gateway if this fails to work try uninstalling and
reinstalling universal plug and play and internet gateway device discovery
post back and let me know if this helps

Tried everything here and it still doesn't work. I do not see the router in
Network Places and do not see the Internet Gateway in Network Connections.

you do have UPnP enable in the router? it is on the password page do not
forget to click on apply
also for testing disable any firewall how does messenger load can you set it
not load at startup and if you have norton2003 also disable the messenger
option before you start messenger see if the can now see the router in my
network places and in view network connections can you see the internet
gateway if you can now see them try to start messenger and see what happens?
what other programs do you have that starts up when XP loads?
